Undergraduate Program FAQ

How do I get an override for my class?

General Tips:

  1. Keep checking online for class openings DAILY.  If you find an opening, go for it.
  2. If you're not in the class by the first day, attend anyway. Also this is the time to see the BB advisor who at that point may have some influence to help you get into the class.

Have you completed all required prerequisites?

  1. Send an e-mail to the professor with the following information:
    Your full name
    Your OSU ID #
    The CRN for the course
    Why you need an override
If you don't include all of the above information, we can not issue the override. If the professor approves the override, they will forward the e-mail to the office. You will be notified via e-mail.
  2. Wait to receive notification e-mail.
  3. Register for the course. Please note: we only issue the override. You still need to go online and register for the course.

Graduate Student 'Oregon State University Graduate Student Guide' Mobile App

The Graduate School in partnership with New Students Programs & Family Outreach is excited to launch a Graduate Students guide as part of a new mobile application called Oregon State University Guide this fall.  You may download it now in both the Google Play and Apple App Store market. The Graduate School guide is called “Graduate Students.” We encourage you to download the app and the Graduate Student guide today to see it for yourself. There are numerous other OSU guides that can also be helpful to students.  Information on downloading may be found here:  https://guidebook.com/app/OSUGuide/

This App is meant to enhance the student experience for all students. Students that may not have access to a mobile device such as a smart phone or tablet will have access to this web version, http://guidebook.com/guide/23757 though not all features work in the web based format (like gps mapping, personalized schedule). With the Graduate Student guide, students will be able to plan their Graduate School Orientation day with a personalized schedule and browse sessions, exhibitors, maps and more. Post orientation they can stay up to date on events and activities, and receive other helpful information.
