This endowed fellowship was established in 2015 through the generosity of Chris and Kate Mathews with the purpose of helping the BB doctoral program recruit and retain top notch students.

Moriah Mathis received her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from BYU. While there, her research in protein crystallography ignited an interest in biochemistry, leading to her decision to apply to graduate schools and come to OSU after graduating in 2021. She joined Rick Cooley's lab and is currently working on developing and applying genetic code expansion (GCE) systems for studying protein phosphorylation.

Congratulations Moriah, and wish you the best of luck in your graduate career, and thank you Chris and Kate for your generosity and support of our program.
